The official Uptodown app allows you to back up any app installed locally on your device. Follow these steps to do so:
- Go to My apps in the user menu.
- Long-press on the app you want to back up. In the contextual menu that appears, select Backup copy.
- Configure the backup options in the menu:
- Output path: The backup is saved in Uptodown App Store/Backups by default. You can choose a different folder if desired.
- Name format for the backup file: Choose whether the file will use the app's name on Uptodown or its package name. This doesn't affect the backup's content.
- Extension: The file is packaged as an APK (the Android standard). Some apps may be extracted as XAPK, which requires the Uptodown app or a compatible one to install. Android's default package installer doesn't support XAPK.
- Version code: Enable this option to add the version number to the file name. This also doesn't affect the backup's content.
Once the process is complete, a confirmation message will appear. From there, you can directly access the backup folder or share it with other devices.
